Every September 22, for years now, I've read something by Tolkien, be it a reread of LotR or one of the obscure history books. September 22 is, of course, the date of Frodo and Bilbo's birthday, as well as the day Frodo sets off on his quest to destroy the One Ring. It's fall now, at least officially, and in the Northern Hemisphere where I live. So it seems like the best time to begin something by an author so often elegiac.
We've got a hashtag for this, simply enough #TolkienTide, and if you'd like to join in on the festivities, just pick up whatever you'd like to read by Tolkien and post about it using that tag. If you're on social media -- I'll be posting on Bluesky -- it should just show up under the tag.
